Essential Functions:
• Prototype machinist capable of running and setting up any conventional machine to machine precision components with tight tolerances to +/- 0.0002 inches.
• Machine prototypes and small run production runs utilizing conventional lathes, mills, drill presses and grinders.
• Interpret engineering drawings, perform operations from work orders, drawings and/or sketch, and follow verbal instruction with minimal supervision.
• Perform own set-up, prepare tooling and fixtures.
• Apply fundamental machining practices to produce high-quality items.
• Regularly inspects and sharpens cutting tools as need arises.
• Maintains high quality standards and output while meeting department production requirements
• Good communicator and versatile team player.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
• Knowledge of, and compliance with, Company and departmental policies and procedures.
• Works during scheduled hours.
Experience:
• Minimum 5 years experience as a conventional machinist
• Heavy conventional lathe experience preferred.
• Must be able to set-up and run complex parts with tight tolerances (to +/- 0.0002 inches).
• Prototype experience.
• High quality standards.
• Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations
• Read and understand engineering drawings and specifications
• Perform own set-ups
• Own and knowledgeable in inspection tools
• Vocational school, High School diploma or GED equivalent
