Duties and Tasks:
Provide engineering expertise and support for the satellites operated at the Naval Satellite Operations Center in Pt. Mugu, CA.
Utilize telemetry to determine health and status of on-orbit satellites
Plan and execute satellte commanding
Respond to satellte anomalies
Support integration of new satellites
Develop expertice in specifc subsystems of the satellites.
Develop and execute ground systems tests
Contribute to development of tools to expedite and automate telemetry monitorig and analysis, mission planning, commanding, and reporting.
Provides resolution to a diverse range of complex problems
Independently determines approach to solutions
May provide leadership and/or direction to lower level employees
Independently determines proposed approach to solutions
Contributes to the completion of major programs and projects
Plans and executes project tasks for activities described above
Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or the equivalent experience is required. In addition, a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in related aerospace engineering is required, including the following:
Understanding of satellite operations concepts, principles, and theories
General knowledge of other related disciplines including solar/electical power, RF, orbital mechanics, and thermodynamics.
Knowledge of and interest in current technology trends
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Persuasive when communicating concepts and ideas
Creative thinker, good multi-tasker
Effective in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
Secret level U.S. DoD security clearance, and U.S. Citizenship is required.
Interfaces:
Regular contact with senior levels of internal work groups
Works under limited direction .
Works closely with senior team members.
Frequent contact with all levels of customer organization.
