Summary:

Tests, tunes, troubleshoots, repairs, modifies and calibrates developmental and production electronic RF modules and systems, module and system sub-assemblies and circuit boards. Technician I is expected to work with some supervision.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Reads and interprets prints, blueprints, process manuals, assembly drawings and schematic diagrams.
2. Uses voltmeters, power meters, scalar network analyzers, power supplies, multi meter and other specialized test equipment.
3. Competent in all aspects of module assembly, such as wiring, reflow, epoxy, and hand soldering through hole and surface mount components.
4. Visually inspects modules and subassemblies for proper workmanship and performs continuity and resistance checks prior to turn on. Repairs as needed.
5. Determines proper module operation, tunes it to optimum using shims, solder spikes and RF absorber and records all pertinent data.
6. Tests, aligns and certifies a wide variety of circuit boards and module/system subassemblies prior to installation.
7. Evaluates module / system performance under actual operating conditions.
8. Navigates Local Area Network and ERP system to gain the necessary information to complete work assignments.
9. Completes appropriate paperwork necessary to finish work assignments.
10. Maintains ESD certification.
11. Maintains IPC-610 certification.
12. Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
13. Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform all duties satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and or ability needed to perform the needed tasks.

Education and/or Experience: Associates degree in the electronics field; applicable military schools; or related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and in scientific notation. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of the ERP Manufacturing software.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception, Color Vision and Ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and compressed gas (C02 and LN2 used for cooling). The employee is also exposed to the risk of electrical shock and RF radiation as well as extreme heat and cold. The employee occasionally works near moving parts.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
