General Dynamics C4 Systems is a diverse and growing business. We are currently seeking a Sr Systems Technical Architect for the Alexandria, VA operations. The selected candidate will be responsible for strategic design and implementation of information systems, networked software architectures and functionality of Intelligence dissemination. In addition, the selected candidate will provide technical leadership across the organization, from strategic decision making down to the project planning level. The selected candidate’s key objectives are:
- Design and implement long-term strategic and short term tactical plans.
- Provide architectural expertise, direction and assistance to Systems Analysts, Systems Engineers, other Architects and software development teams.
- Research emerging technologies in support of system development efforts and overall system objectives.
- Design, develop, and oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated TNE systems.
- Document existing system(s) architecture and technology portfolio.
- Review new and existing systems design projects and procurement or outsource plans for compliance with standards and architectural plans.
- Confer with end users, stakeholders or senior management to define business requirements
- Model business and system processes through the use of case scenarios, workflow diagrams and data models.
- Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance.
- Report findings and make recommendations for improvement.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, a related field, or the equivalent experience is required. Advanced degree preferred. In addition, a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience is required, 20 years of relevant experience preferred.

Must be able to travel 20% of the time.

Secret level U.S. DoD security clearance, and U.S. Citizenship is required.

Applicant must be a US Citizen.

Applicant must be able to pass an extended background investigation (EBI) for this position.

Applicant must have an “active” TS SCI clearance. Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen. Other qualifying skills and experience include:
- Master’s Degree Preferred.
- Experience in developing strategic system architecture plans.
- Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering/analysis.
- Proven project planning and management experience.
- Superior written and oral communication skills
- Excellent architecture and technical support documentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and consultative skills.
- Strong technical skills.
- Strong UNIX/LINUX OS foundation.
- Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Applicant must meet DoDD 8570.1 certification requirements for IAT-III and IAM-III or must be able to individually obtain certification requirements within the first 6 months of employment.
- Must be able to complete short-term deployments to Afghanistan and other regional locations as required.
